Early this morning at Chase Stadium, Inter Miami faced DC United in a Major League Soccer round match. In the 36th minute, Messi provided an assist for Allende’s goal. A lofted pass from midfield, catching the defenders off guard, set up the chance perfectly. Miami went into halftime leading 1–0.
In the 53rd minute of the second half, Benteke equalized for DC United. After that, Messi kept creating chances, but Miami couldn’t extend the lead due to poor finishing. Finally, Messi decided to take matters into his own hands. From a Jordi Alba assist, he scored with a brilliant technical finish, just like in the previous match, where Alba also assisted him.
In the 70th minute, Messi created yet another chance for Silvetti. The striker was fouled inside the box by goalkeeper Barraza. Since Messi had missed a penalty in the last match, he let Silvetti take it,but he too failed to convert.
In the 85th minute, Sergio Busquets assisted Messi, who struck from outside the box with a long-range effort to seal the win. With a brace, Messi climbed to the top of the Golden Boot race. The scoreline read 3–1. Although DC United pulled one back in stoppage time, Inter Miami still walked away with the victory.
